Brand Ambassador: Amy Leydon

Amy Leydon is our eighth brand ambassador and has always been inspired by those who have a true passion for their work. After yearning for the same passion her husband had for his art, Amy found yoga and hasn't looked back. So she now has two full-time jobs: being a yoga instructor and a mom. Both can be demanding and extremely rewarding at the same time.

Amy's been practicing and teaching in Boston for the past decade and currently teaches at Exhale Spa and Equinox. She is well-known for her intuitive alignment cues, great sequencing, and eclectic musical selections.

Q: What is your occupation?
Amy: I’m a yoga teacher and a mom. I always joke that teaching yoga is my first shift and then I head to my second (and more demanding) job as a mother.

Q: What or who inspired you to become an instructor and why?
Amy: I have always been inspired by those who have a true passion for their work. When I was fresh out of college I lived with my boyfriend (now husband). He is a writer, musician, and filmmaker. I loved to witness him create. I struggled to find something that ignited that sort of passion in me. Then I started practicing yoga. I just knew this was it. I took a leap of faith and quit my job as a TV producer and just started teaching. Fifteen years later I’m still at it and love what I do.

Q: How do you describe what you do and what do you love most about it?
Amy: I think my primary goal is to get people to connect to the moment. I encourage my students to stay very present in the practice so instead of wondering what’s next or what they can accomplish, they are fully immersed in the breath, music, and sensations. Once this deep awareness of breath and body take place, we start to become more aware of our thoughts and emotions. This offers us profound insights into our triggers, struggles, and emotional blocks. Students begin to understand that the physical work is the gateway to the emotional work. The work on the mat is just the beginning.

Q: When you are feeling overwhelmed or stressed, what gives you peace?
Amy: Organizing my closets and cabinets...being in nature...yoga nidra or guided relaxation.

Q: What are your hobbies or passions other than job?
Amy: Being with friends and family, good food and wine, movies, books, TV, skiing, biking, hiking, being at the beach, dancing wildly at live music venues (it’s been while since I’ve done this), and traveling...I’m sure I’m missing some.

Q: What is your personal style?
Amy: Fitness Rocker Mom

Q: Why did you want to be an ambassador for Crane & Lion?
Amy: I got passionate about how I eat a number of years ago. I learned to eat very consciously and try to keep it local and organic. I try very hard not to waste. Then I moved into my skincare (shout out to Maria Akerberg), haircare, and cleaning products. Finding the most natural products that cause the least amount of harm but still work great. The next shift is clothes. I want high quality clothes that are ethically made by a local company. I want the clothes I purchase to last a long time. And I want timeless pieces that look fabulous. Crane and Lion fits all those criteria.

Q: What’s your favorite Crane & Lion piece?
Amy: The lightweight capri tight. I want to own at least 10 pairs. They are incredibly lightweight, flattering, and comfortable. AND, they keep you completed supported. They are my favorite yoga pants of all time.
